About the Quincy Police Department
The Quincy Police Department was formally established on December 23,1892.
At that time, the Department consisted of EIGHT Patrolmen and ONE Chief.
As of January 1,1998, the Quincy Police Department consists of the following:
1 Chief, 157 Patrol Officers, 27 Sergeants, 15 Lieutenants, 5 Captains, 38
Full-time Civilian Personnel, 30 Marked Cruisers, 24 Unmarked Cruisers, 1 Wagon,
10 motorcycles, 3 Mountain Bikes, 3 Horses, 3 K-9 Dogs, 2 Boats
(covering 26 miles of shoreline).
The Quincy Police Department receives approximately 60,000 calls for service each
year and makes an average of 2000 arrests each year. This Department serves a
population of 85,000 people in an area of 26.5 square miles.
